Another Day On The Ribble

Two Sunday trips onto the River Ribble with my son Mat produced some lovely fish. Salmon where missing - again but they will come along at some point in the future I'm sure. Browns, grayling and sea trout to a mixture of methods from double handed to 3 & 4# nymph. Traditional wet flies fished through the pools brought some great chases by fish.

Back on the Ribble again on Sunday this time with my son Mat, a bit of father and son time. Weather was a scorcher and fish were hard to find but we did manage a few trout and some small grayling, thought we may have seen some salmon after the recent lifts but not this time. Great to be out in the fresh air, nice fresh brew at lunch time - need to do it more often, hopefully later this week

River Ribble, July 2020

It's taken a while but at last I got out and wet a line after 'lockdown', thought I'd play it safe and give it an extra few weeks before venturing out.
River was on its way down after the recent lift so there may have been some salmon come into the beat, fished for 3 hours with the double handed rod -nothing, so after lunch switched to the single and had a go for the trout.
Nice reward a lovely plump brownie.
