Return From The Nith

Back from the Nith without any major success, river was really low and conditions throughout the 3 days were blazing sunshine and really hot, given some rain and you can imagine the river being full of fish.
Still we were there and made the most of it, spent some time each day working on various double handed casting techniques which hopefully will become invaluable later in the year.

There were plenty of small grayling, brownies, sea trout and parr about to keep you on your toes with the odd decent fish mixed in.

Back out each night for a few hours but even the few big pulls failed to result in a fish to the net, strange it was almost as if they were just hitting the tails of the fly and off.

Took time out on Tuesday to do a quick lesson with one of the staffs sons, he got the grip with the casts very well.

A few pointers for another of the hotel regulars on the Wednesday before I packed up and headed back down the motorway.

Last few days has been busy with repeat lessons as well as continuing my own development with the double handed rod.

River Nith

Practice has been the thing of late and will continue this next week BUT I'm off to the River Nith for 3 days fishing as well so some time to fish.

New set of flies to try out, they look good, tied by Custom Tied Flies

The river like most is very low so it will be a matter of finding that bit of fast water and hope that there are some fish about, there's always the chance of some sea trout and if not hopefully the brownies will be eager.

Tight lines to those out fishing.
